James Ontiveros and Matt Turrentine, founders of Grapevine Capital Partners, find themselves in a uniquely privileged position within the wine industry. Both come from families deeply rooted in California agriculture and viticulture. Ontiveros’s family has stewarded land in California since the 18th century, with the last three generations focused on vineyard ownership. Turrentine’s father founded Turrentine Brokerage in the 1970s, helping build one of the wine industry’s most influential connections between growers and wineries.

Over the years, the partners have assembled more than 5,000 acres of premier vineyard land across the West Coast, acquiring exceptional properties and investing heavily in their improvement. Today, all of their vineyards are certified sustainable, with many also practicing organic viticulture. Their holdings span some of the country’s most respected growing regions, including Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, Napa Valley, Mendocino, and Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

In response to the current grape surplus, Ontiveros and Turrentine found themselves with an abundance of exceptional fruit. Rather than selling these grapes into the bulk market, they chose to create a straightforward, honest wine brand—one that could only come from growers themselves.

Two of their estate properties house winemaking facilities overseen by an accomplished team. Chris Brown, a 30-year Santa Barbara winemaking veteran who grew up under the tutelage of the renowned Miller family of Bien Nacido, brings decades of experience to the project. He is joined by Justin Kahler, an industry veteran in his own right. Together, they place the wines in exceptionally capable hands.

No visitor center. No marketing department. No pursuit of scores. No corporate ambitions. Growers Producers Bottlers exists for one reason: to allow meticulous vineyard stewardship to shine through in every bottle. Every wine identifies the estate vineyard from which it originates. There is no new oak, no heroic winemaking—just thoughtfully grown fruit, carefully shepherded from vineyard to bottle.

We are GROWERS first and foremost. We own and farm all of our vineyards. Proudly, SIP Certified. This project would not exist if we didn’t enjoy complete control over how the grapes are grown.

We are conscientous PRODUCERS to match our aspirations in the vineyard. Minimal intervention, no new oak, no additives, native yeast and minimal sulfur at bottling.

Provenance of product is the final piece. So we are BOTTLERS to maintain that last bit of control and cost effectiveness.Each bottle is in our hands from the moment the vine goes into our soil until the moment it leaves the winery.
